We’re prepared for tomorrow’s bye-elections in Taraba –REC

Resident Electoral Commissioner of Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Taraba State, Umar Mukhtar Gajiram, has assured the people of Jalingo/Yorro/Zing federal constituency that the commission has put in place all measures to ensure a hitch-free election tomorrow.

Gajiram gave the assurance, yesterday, while distributing sensitive materials ahead of the election.

He said the commission has learned critical lessons from the last election and is poised to deliver a free, fair and credible election.

“We have taken all necessary measures at the very high levels to ensure this elections go on smoothly. You have just witnessed the distribution of sensitive materials. This is to make sure everything is in place on time.

“We have also held series of security meetings both here and in Abuja and we have all the assurance that security will be taken care of, so we are confident there won’t be any unpleasant experience.

“Let me use this opportunity to call on all the players to exercise caution and play by the rules. It is an election and not as war. I also want to assure the voters to come out and exercise their rights to choose their representative.”

The election is scheduled to hold in 652 polling units across three local government areas on tomorrow to fill the vacuum created when an elected member died before his inauguration.
