Christmas stories are upon us as we slowly hit the festive season.
Comedian Eddie Murphy stars in his first holiday comedy film as he brings to our screens the lead character in Candy Cane Lane.
Written by Kelly Younger, Murphy goes on an adventure in this holiday drama about a man on a mission to win his neighborhood’s annual Christmas home decoration contest.
After a while he makes a deal with a mischievous elf named Pepper (Jillian Bell) to better his chances of winning. She casts a magic spell that brings the 12 Days of Christmas to life, which wreaks havoc on the whole town. On the verge of ruining the festive season for his family, his wife Carol (Tracee Ellis Ross), and their three children race against the clock to break Pepper’s spell, battle deviously magical characters, and save Christmas for everyone.
The story is said to be inspired by Younger’s own holiday experiences in an actual location called Candy Cane Lane in El Segundo, California.
Directed by Reginald Hudlin, other cast includes Thaddeus J. Mixson, Ken Marino, Nick Offerman, Robin Thede, Chris Redd, Genneya Walton, Madison Thomas, Anjelah Johnson-Reyes, Lombardo Boyar, D.C. Young Fly, Danielle Pinnock, Timothy Simons, Riki Lindhome and Stephen Tobolowsky.
Produced by Brian Grazer, Murphy, Karen Lunde, and Charisse Hewitt-Webster, the movie will debut on December 1, 2023, via the Prime Video platform.
Fans and viewers can also expect an official teaser debut on Thursday, October 12, 2023, which will reveal more about what’s to come.
