One of the major contenders in the governorship election in 2025 in Anambra State, Ifeanyi Ubah, has expressed his preparedness to bring economic fortunes, adequate security and a democratically elected local government institution to the state in just one single four-year tenure, if elected governor.
Ubah, who currently represents Anambra South senatorial district, had recently defected to All Progressives Congress (APC) from the Young Progressives Party (YPP).
He said he would do a single four-year tenure to complete the turn of the Anambra South senatorial zone, in line with the rotational arrangement of the governorship position for the past one decade in the state.
Ubah disclosed this when he had a chat with newsmen at his Nnewi residence in Anambra State.
He said he needed to succeed Charles Soludo of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) to bring in a direction-driven leadership that would change the narratives of the state with the attendant economic fortunes.
He said the state was in urgent need for economic growth with well fashioned out development strategies.
The senator expressed disappointment that the government of Soludo had not shown the capacity and capability to bring economic growth to Anambra State, adding that the general cry in the state is that the APGA government had failed.
Ubah, who promised to conduct local government elections within four months if voted into office as the governor, said that would help to fairly distribute development to all parts of the state.
He insisted that four years were enough for any determined governor to take Anambra to greater heights and ensure that the people felt the dividends of democracy.
Ubah noted that development under Governor Soludo had been on a slow pace which he said fell below the expectations of Anambra people.
“I want to shrink the present and past governments of Anambra by what I will bring to the state. Eighty percent of what I want to bring to Anambra has not been discussed before.
“My blueprints for the development of the state are innovative and none of my opponents can match them.
“If I become governor, Anambra State will be both commercial and health destination in the Southeast in particular, and Nigeria in general.
“Anambra flag will be mounted in many capitals of the world to attract development to the state and our people in the diaspora will be motivated to come and invest at home,” he said.
The senator explained that even as a private person, he had contributed in no small measure towards touching the lives of many people in Anambra State positively in many areas of life.
Ubah named sports, general empowerment, education, commerce, health, among others as areas he had touched so many lives in his individual capacity and disclosed that in February 2024, he had concluded arrangements to empower over 20,000 people in seven local government areas of the state. He said all his operations were data-baed which were verifiable.
