Ten Hag explains reason he punished Rashford differently from Sancho

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag explained that the punishments given to Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho for infractions were different because “Jadon chose to go public.”

Rashford will return to the United team for their Premier League match against Wolves on Thursday, after speaking with Ten Hag on Monday about his ill-advised excursion to Belfast last week.

Sancho, meanwhile, has returned to his previous club Borussia Dortmund on loan after publicly challenging Ten Hag’s decision to withdraw him from the squad for a game against Arsenal in September.

Sancho was forced to train alone for over four months, while Rashford trained alongside his teammates on Monday.

Ten Hag has now stated that the differing approach was due to Sancho’s now-deleted remark on X, formerly Twitter.

“We can resolve anything inside. “Jadon chose to go public,” Ten Hag explained.
