Member representing Oshodi/Isolo Constituency II, at the House of Representatives, Honourable Okey – Joe Onuakalusi, has donated some educational materials to some selected public schools in his constituency.
The legislator said the gesture was based on the fact that education is fundamental to socioeconomic development and progress, moreover he is obligated to deliver dividends of democracy meant for his people as a responsible lawmaker.
The educational palliatives included modern classrooms, benches, exercise books and allied learning facilities, while the beneficiary schools are: Iriakari Estate Model Primary School, Iriakari Estate Isolo; Gbeleyi nursery and primary school; Ansarudeen nursery and primary school; Olokoun primary school , Ilasa and Ajao estate primary school.
“Education is fundamental for all. I the have studied that the efforts of our past national icons on education are what we are enjoying today, hence my request for improved educational development in our constituency”
According to honorable Onuakalusi, education brings about strong and sustainable progress in the society, particularly when it is designed for children at formative stage in life.
Onuakalusi spoke at the event to distribute modern educational materials to some public primary schools in the aforementioned in Oshodi – Isolo Local Government, constituency II. This is meant to aid them in their critical pursuit for their educational development. Remember, the statement, “train a child, you develop a nation’, is not a mere fallacy but metaphorical in all sense.
“Therefore, its in realization of the important role of education in national life, that our heroes of national past considered it as very critical element for national development.
“Undoubtedly, I had no option than to key into the very laudable objectives of our past leaders that had strived very hard to ensure that education is brought to the doorsteps of every child including my humble self.”
The lawmaker affirmed that he would fervently make a huge difference to contribute in no small measures to improve educational development in the constituency as his core goal.
“We did a comprehensive needs assessment of our schools in the constituency, both primary and secondary. Even the tertiary education students would not be left out in the scheme of things. What we do doing today is simply an attempt to test the educational waters. It is our widow’s mite in the present circumstance to essentially sensitize ourselves that your Representative is equal to the tasks ahead- educationally and otherwise.”
He pledged more palliatives in the nearest future for educational development, as he unveiled a lined -up future benefits including Schools renovations, provisions of books and chairs, scholarships schemes, entertainment, sports and youths’ developments, skills acquisitions programs, educational workshops and seminars to unearth the pathway to educational prosperity in our constituency, among others.
“I call everyone in our constituency to join hands to liberate our children from the wicked clutches of abject ignorance and uplift them to the very enviable height of educational empowerment, equip them with such critical elements to enable them contribute profusely to national development that our country needed at this time.
“Many countries use education to navigate their developmental problems, and today- they are better off. We can do it. I shall do everything within my reach, and legislatively to achieve our set educational goals to make sure that no child is left behind” he assured.
On ground to receive the educational materials were: Education Secretary of the Local government, Hon Mayowa Alakija; education administrators- Mrs Florence Titilola Aderemi and Mr Tijani Adesina.
According to Mrs Aderemi, Lagos state has a policy of quality education infrastructural development across its primary schools, so much that no pupil sits on the floor in any Lagos State primary school.
She conveyed the appreciation of the State governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu to Hon. Okey – Joe Onuakalusi, for the gesture.
