Prove you don’t hate Esanland, group urges Oshiomhole

Ahead the primary for governorship election in Edo State, the leadership of the All-Progressive Congress (APC) has been urged to demonstrate that it was not biased against Edo Central senatorial zone.

The Convener of Women in Politics and women leader in APC in the state, Princess Esther Igbani, stated this yesterday in Benin city, when she called on Senator Adams Oshiomhole to declare support for zoning of the governorship ticket to Esanland.

Igbani who declared that all eyes were on the former governor, added that members of APC were praying for the leadership not to make mistakes. “Any mistake now will affect the fortunes of the party in the governorship election.”

Igbani who led a delegation of women to the party secretariat in Benin City described the conversation across the state, to be about equity and fairness.

“Everybody seemed to be waiting for Senator Oshiomhole to speak and support Esan people. Going by his body language, he is supporting another zone over and above Edo Central. This is tragic because it is happening at a time everybody is expecting Edo central to produce the next governor. Oshiomhole’s body language and his support against Edo Central is fueling the belief that he does not like Esan people. This is why you hear people say that politicians are the cause of our problems. Edo people have lived together and supported each zone to power over the years.

“Now that it is the turn of Edo central, some politicians are toying with the entire fate of the people,” she noted.

Oshiomhole is locked with about 28 aspirants for the position of governor, with those from Edo central calling for power shift to their area.

The party had declared the race open to all aspirants from the three senatorial districts, to select one who would succeed Governor Godwin Obaseki.
