Gunmen abduct government official in Lagos ,demand N 20m ransom

Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers have abducted a senior staff at the Lagos State Revenue Department, in Ikorodu, Lagos.
The victim was abducted Monday night on his way back from work.
The man popularly known in the area as Jagaban, was abducted about 9pm on the faithful day at the entrance of his house at Progressive Estate Igbe-Oloja ,and taken away through the swampy route.
The kidnappers, on Wednesday contacted his wife and demanded for a N20 million ransom.
According to a local source, the victim had parked his car and was waiting for his wife to open the gate when the gunmen accosted him and took him away.
The source said initially there was fear and apprehension as people felt that his abductors were assassins until today), when they contacted his wife, who they demanded the sum of N20 million from,” we are happy that Jagaban was not abducted for assassination.That was our fear,but now that we know that they are kidnappers, we know what to do”.
Lagos State Police Public Relation Officer (PPRO), SP Benjamin Hundeyin, said there was a case of kidnapping in the area, but could not say whether the victim was a government official or not.
The PPRO, said: “All I can tell you is that we
received such a report that someone was abducted, but I cannot tell who he is. All I know is that our men are there, and they are doing.
everything possible to rescue the
man, and apprehend the hoodlums.”
A source in the area told our correspondent that vigilante group and Onyabo are also complementing police efforts to rescue him alive from the gunmen.
