Eight confirmed dead n Kano petrol bomb explosion, others in critical conditions

The tragic impact of the petrol bomb explosion at Larabar-Albasawa village in Kano State, has taken a turn for the worse as no fewer than eight of the injured victims have been confirmed dead.

 

Daily Sun gathered that some of the injured worshippers, hospitalized at the Murtala Mohammed Specialists Hospital in the state, are also in critical conditions, a situation fuelling fears that some of them might still give in the coming days.

Kano State Police Public Relations Officer, Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, who confirmed the development, told journalists that the deceased died as a result of the injuries sustained from the tragic incident.

It is worthy of note the principal suspect in the dastardly crime, 38-year-old Shafiu Abubakar who has been arrested by the police had set the petrol bomb on the worshippers during yesterday sawn prayers.

According to his confession during police interrogation, he was prompted to commit the crime following a family inheritance dispute in which he felt short-changed.

Witnesses at the Larabar-Albasawa village where the tragedy occurred reported that the suspect sprayed the Mosque area with petroleum, locked the door of the Mosque, and set it on fire, trapping about 40 worshippers inside the place of worship .

It was also gathered that almost every household in the immediate neighborhood was somewhat affected by the crime.

In the meantime, the Assistant Inspector General of Police, Zone 1, Umar Mamman Sanda, including the Commissioner of Police in the state and the Director of DSS, has paid a visit to the victims at the Murtala Muhammad Specialists Hospital.End.
