Minister of Works David Umahi has called upon the people of Ebonyi South senatorial district to vote for All Progressives Congress (APC) Ebonyi South senatorial candidate, Prof Okorie Anthony Ani, in the Ebonyi South senatorial bye-election slated for February 3.
Umahi represented Ebonyi South in the 10th between June and August 2023 and was Deputy Senate Leader.
He resigned from the Senate in August 2023 upon his wearing-in as Minister of Works on August,21, 2023.
Umahi, who gave the charge during a rap up meeting of Ebonyi South APC’s stakeholders held at his residence in Abakaliki, in preparation for the bye-election, expressed satisfaction with the popularity of the APC candidate and urged the stakeholders to redouble their efforts to ensure that the APC wins overwhelmingly at the election.
“The President has given the Southeast a voice. He has fully integrated Southeast. It’s time to reciprocate by making our party number one. What is the Senator going to do for us compared to what Mr. President has done for us? So, it’s not about the election of the Senator. It’s about returning gratitude to Mr. President, to the Governor and to the party. That is, it,” Umahi stated.
“I want to thank all the people from Ebonyi South and, of course, the entire State for their loyalty to the Governor and for working with him. He is the leader of the party in the State. He is the leader of Government. And we must have to honor him.”
The minister noted that the people of Ebonyi State and indeed Southeast would reap numerous opportunities and democracy dividends by keying into the commendable development master plan of the Renewed Hope Agenda of the Tinubu administration.
He also commended the Governor of Ebonyi State, Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru for the unity of the party and for hitting the ground running with life-changing programmes and called for unflinching support on the APC administration at all levels.
In his remarks chairman of the APC in the state, Chief Stanley Okoro Emegha, thanked the Minister for his kind disposition to the affairs of the party and for making the State proud in the manner he discharges his duty as Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, as he assured that the APC would win the 2024 bye- election.
